behold: progressive black metal. if you can ignore the shrieks and wailing THIS ALBUM DESTROYS. i personally like the shrieks and wailings since it makes the lyrics more emotionally charged and more human but thats just me!

Advaita: Grounded in Space

Ok, so this is probably the trippiest new band i've heard since... well... the last trippy band i heard. No, but seriously, Advaita are a New Delhi based band who use lots and lots of ethnic Indian instrumentation (e.g sitar, tambura, tabla, indian chant etc) and this is basically the chillest psychedelia band to come along since the Grateful Dead if you ask me.

psychotropic indian space rock!

Jean Michel Jarre: Oxygene

Ok, here's a rare gem of the 70's pioneer-ness. This can easily be called the first truly electronic album in history, released 1976, it's mainly psychedelic little compositions made entirely using synthesizers. You might have heard "Part IV" from before, it's a pretty catchy melody.
Anyways I felt the need to post this because albums like this cannot be forgotten. This is the grandfather of all techno, trance, electronica etc. that is today, and as is common in most such cases, this is better than most of the genres and artists it spawned.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Okay, if you haven't heard this album, you need to download it and listen to it like now. I know that we say that on this blog a lot, but i REALLY mean it with this album. This may be my all-time favorite album. You need to stick with it though, because it's not the most accessible album, but trust me; after a few listens and some time, this album will truly become ingrained into your psyche. It's got so many layers of meaning that I have still yet to reach, and each listen makes me fall in love with it yet again. It's truly genius.

Them Crooked Vultures

Ok, if you haven't heard this... you fail. This is the best classic rock album to be released since "Rated R" by QOTSA in 2000, and that's not just opinion, it's FACT. This album kicks some SERIOUS FUCKING ASS.
All these tracks are jizz-inducing, so I won't bother choosing the best ones.

1. No One Loves Me & Neither Do I
2. Mind Eraser, No Chaser
3. New Fang
4. Dead End Friends
5. Elephants
6. Scumbag Blues
7. Bandoliers
8. Reptiles
9. Interlude with Ludes
10. Warsaw Or The First Breath You Take After You Give Up
11. Caligulove
12. Gunman
13. Spinning in Daffodils

Sorry, but you're gonna have to buy this album.

naaah, just kidding.
but you really should buy it.

Rosetta- Wake/Lift

this album owns. hxc. its not as deep as their The Galilean Satellites (deep as in there are less lyrics and more juns and ambience) but THIS EFFIN OWNS. this is great to study to because it has emotional energy but not too much physical energy that it makes you want to mosh. you will bang your head at times though

Mixtape: I Can't Live Like This Forever

Well it's been quite a while since I posted, so sorry about that guys. But I have a real treat for ya'll today: the first Expatriate Experience Mixtape! Made by yours truly over the past few days, it consists of songs that I've been listening to lately as the world begins to shift over from winter to spring. There's a lot of indie pop type stuff on here, but then there's also some folk and nice acoustic stuff as well. I did my best to mix some obscure stuff with the more widely known material, so there's a good mix. The "theme" is the title of the mixtape, a line from one of the songs: I Can't Live Like This Forever. I don't know if everyone will see the same theme, but it's what I see. So enjoy, and give me some feedback. Expect more mixtapes in the next week or so!

Track Listing:
1. Beasts With Hearts of Gold by Watch Out For Rockets (For some reason, the last 2:30 of this track is blank, so sorry about that)
2. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
3. Friends of P by The Rentals
4. Good by Better than Ezra
5. High Lonesome by The Gaslight Anthem
6. Genesis 3:23 by The Mountain Goats
7. Girlfriend by Phoenix
8. Peace and Love by Fountains of Wayne
9. Shirt Like A Couch by Get Him Eat Him
10. When It's Good by Ben Harper
11. Lion's Mane by Iron & Wine
12. Wordsearch by Hightide Hotel
13. Comfort Inn by Lewis & Clarke
14. My Doorbell by The White Stripes
15. Bright Future In Sales by Fountains of Wayne
16. St. Tropez by Summer Cats
